It is the second film to profile Jobs since his death in 2011.
Actor Christian Bale will portray Steve Jobs in the latest biopic about the deceased Apple founder, according to multiple news reports.
The project’s screenwriter has confirmed the biopic, which will be directed by Danny Boyle, who is known for works such as Slumdog Millionaire.
Bale, best known for the Dark Knight series, will star in a film adaptation of the bestselling biography by Pulitzer Prize winner Walter Isaacson. Leonardo DiCaprio was a frontrunner for the role, but dropped out to work on The Revenant.
Scriptwriter Aaron Sorkin, who profiled another tech superstar a few years ago in Mark Zuckerberg for the film The Social Network, confirmed the decision to book Bale, noting that there was no audition, just a meeting.
It is the second project announced to profile Jobs just three years after his death in 2011. In the 2013 film Jobs, Ashton Kutcher portrayed the title figure, and the movie was chosen to close out the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
