According to a report from Reuters, a 15-year-old Michigan girl has been charged with plotting to kill her entire family.

The girl reportedly conspired with her boyfriend, 23-year-old Michael Rivera, to kill her adoptive parents. She is also accused of stabbing her younger brother on October 17.

“The alleged actions of this defendant and her co-defendant, to conspire to kill her entire family, are truly haunting,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement obtained by Reuters.

According to NBC News, prosecutors have charged the 15 year old as an adult, but her parents are convinced that she was under the influence of her boyfriend.

“I think she just thought this guy loved her and she wanted to do whatever he told her, and she was very vulnerable and she has a mental disorder and she needs help,” Laurene Sikorski, who adopted the girl and her two siblings from Poland, told WDIV.

The teen’s parents think that she and her boyfriend were in a sexual relationship and, as a result, they may file sex charges against him, The Associated Press reports.

According to Laurene and her husband, their daughter had been receiving treatment for depression and ADHD.
