Renee Zellweger: ‘I’m glad people think I look different’

The actress also calls conversation about her changed appearance "silly."

Renee Zellweger isn’t going to let herself be fazed by Internet talk. In a new statement to People magazine, the actress claimed that, “I’m glad people think I look different!”

The actress, who has stayed largely under the radar for the past 4 years, turned heads and became a trending Twitter topic after stepping onto the red carpet on Monday. Zellweger, 45, made an appearance at the Elle Women in Hollywood Party and sent the Internet ablaze with what many perceived as a “new face,” with eyes that appeared noticeably wider than previously seen.

In her statement, Zellweger did not specifically address any rumors of plastic surgery but instead called the conversation “silly,” acknowledging that “the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn’t exist won’t get off my porch until I answer the door.” She said that, “People don’t know me in my 40s…Perhaps I look different. Who doesn’t as they get older? Ha. But I am different. I’m happy.”

Zellweger claimed that, “I am healthy. For a long time I wasn’t doing such a good job with that.” She revealed that, “I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things.” The actress promised that she has reevaluated her priorities and that, “I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”

Zellweger has 2 movies scheduled for release in 2015.
