It only took the jury 90 minutes to reach its verdicts.
According to a report from The Associated Press, a Maryland teen has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a fellow student at Parkside High School on May 5.
Eighteen-year-old Jacori Scarborough was convicted of second-degree rape and four other counts on Tuesday, according to WBAL Baltimore, including second-degree assault and false imprisonment.
WBOC reports that the unnamed victim told the jury that Scarborough forcibly dragged her down a hallway and held her up against a wall as he assaulted her. Although Scarborough and the victim were captured on video before the assault, the hallway was not in an area monitored by the school’s video surveillance system.
“There were no signs, in the video they took of her walking around the school, that he used any kind of force,” said Lamarr Brown, a Scarborough spokesman, told WBOC after the verdict was read on Tuesday.
The Daily Times reports that it only took the jury 90 minutes to reach its verdicts.
“We are appreciative of all the diligent and cooperative work of school administration, law enforcement and the judicial system in support of safe schools,” Wicomico County public schools spokeswoman Tracy Sahler wrote in an email to The Daily Times. “Jocori Scarborough is no longer a student of Wicomico County Public Schools, and has not been for several months.
