Started by a Florida mother, the petition has over 4,000 signatures.
What would Heisenberg say? A woman in Florida has garnered over 4,000 signatures on her petition asking Toys ‘R Us to stop selling Walter White dolls.
The toy corporation currently sells action figures based on the famous Breaking Bad television series. Susan Schrivjer, a mother from Fort Meyers, FL, started the petition (writing as Susan Meyers) on Change.org to demand the toys be removed from the aisles. Schrivjer writes, “Toys ‘R Us is well known around the world for their vast selection of toys for children of all ages. However their decision to sell a Breaking Bad doll, complete with a detachable sack of cash and a bag of meth, alongside children’s toys is a dangerous deviation from their family friendly values.”
CNN reports that Schrivjer has admitted that she “thought the show was great. It was riveting.” However, she disapproves of toys being marketed to children. Toys ‘R Us has responded one time to the petition, issuing a statement that, “the products you reference are carried in very limited quantities and the product packaging clearly notes that the items are intended for ages 15 and up. Items from this TV series are located in the adult action figure area of our stores.”
Walter White portrayer Bryan Cranston responded humorously to the situation on Monday. He tweeted, “’Florida mom petitions against Toys ‘R Us over Breaking Bad action figures.’ I’m so mad, I’m burning my Florida Mom action figure in protect.”
