The new starlet Shailene Woodley has played a very provacative role in her latest Gregg Araki’s “White Bird in a Blizzar.” Woodley has participated in several sex scenes, including one of which her character loses her virginity. Woodley told The New York Post,“It’s always an awkward situation when you have to pretend to be intimate with someone that you’re not actually intimate with . . . I think the awkwardness probably lends itself to these great virginity scenes.”
Her co-star Shilo Fernandez however did not feel so akward, “It was really just sort of fun for us to dive into this and just laugh at the whole silliness of not having anything sexual happen, and having to wear these pads on your private areas,” he said.
Its hard to determine if Woodley means what she says, all in all she could be trying to express how she felt the scene to be real, which is the strive of every actor, “real feelings in imaginary circumstance.” That being said was her co star just being a guy with his statement? Sex for a women is feeling, sex for a man is nothing but fun?
The nature of this conversation illustrates the cemented fact that many women in hollywood still become famous not largely for their acting capabilities but the roles they play. Stemming from Marilyn Monroe who largely met her fame from playing the sext bimbo. In today’s age agin we see women predominantly playing the sexual role model or sexualize obejct in most films.
