Captain America 'Easy Rider' chopper motorcycle sold for a reported 1.35 million at auction.

SuperHeroes are well known to sell high priced memorabilia , Spiderman, Batman, and Superman have always been the frontrunners of these purchases, but Captain America joined the apex when the ‘Easy Rider’ chopper motorcycle sold for a reported 1.35 million at auction. The customized Captain America chopper was ridden by Peter Fonda in “Easy Rider” and was sold Saturday night October 18th, 2014.

According to auction house spokeswoman Sabrina Propper, the bidding was fierce for the custom Harley-Davidson ridden in the late 1960’s movie, since the bike was the only one out of several to have survived. The auction House catalog says the bike was restored by Dan Haggerty and was sold this Saturday by auctioneer Michael Eisenberg.

Haggerty had previously acknowledged that he authenicated two ‘Captain America’ bikes, but before the sale said that only one of them was actually legitimate. It has since came out by reports that a man named Gordon Granger of Texas says he owns the authentic chopper and also has a certificate from Haggerty.

This poses some integrity problems for Haggerty and the Auction House who has yet to provide sufficient reasoning of why he was mislead to believe there was more than one authentic bike. The gentlemen or woman who bought the most recent Captain America chopper have not been identified, nor has in been inclined to anyone to believe that they have a problem with its authentication. Over the next few weeks it may or not be determined as news reaches the new owners of the chopper who may be receiving a phone call from the Texan who also has an authenticated certificate from Haggerty.
