The popular book-turned-movie “Marley and Me” is coming to a TV screen near you in the future. It is being reported that NBC has asked for a pilot based on the original 2008 film which starred Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson.

The television show will be similar to the book and film and will reportedly follow the main characters, John and Jenny, as they navigate family life. It will focus on a dog that comes to the family’s Florida home and reminds them of Marley in many ways.

The pilot will be directed and produced by “Sex and the City” executive producer, according to Star Pulse. 

Of course, the news of the pilot brings about questions as to whether or not Jennifer Aniston will return to the small screen. After many successful years on “Friends”, it has been a while since Aniston has been seen on anything other than a large movie screen.

If Aniston joined the cast as the lead character, there would definitely be a lot of interest in the show. Even without her, it still sounds quite promising and like something that television needs right now.

The movie and now the television series, are both based on the best-selling book by John Grogan.

With an oversaturation of reality TV, dating shows and singing competitions, “Marley and Me” might just be what NBC needs. Hopefully the pilot will showcase what the show will offer and therefore be made into a series.
