Apple has unveiled the new iPad Mini 3, which now includes a Touch ID fingerprint scanner. But is the extra money worth the new features?
Apple has taken the wraps off of its iPad Mini 3, boasting a number of new features including Touch ID. But is the new iPad Mini 3 worth the extra price you have to pay for it?
Many are suggested that, in fact, the iPad Mini 3 is not worth the price, unless Touch ID is worth $100. With prices starting at $399, the iPad Mini 3 is far more expensive than any previous iPad Mini models, with the 16GB version of the new one costing a whopping $399. That’s $150 more than the original iPad Mini, which cost $249.
In fact, the iPad Mini 3 is really quite similar to the iPad Mini 2, which costed $299 for the 16GB version. The iPad Mini 3 is the same size and weight as the iPad Mini 2 and it comes with the same A7 processor. The new iPad Air 2, however, managed to shave off 1.4mm, making it the thinnest iPad ever. It also lost 34 grams compared to the iPad Air.
It is likely that Apple payed much less attention to the iPad Mini this year because of the fact that the new iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5-inches. Or perhaps the company wanted to focus mainly on promoting the new iPad Air 2 instead. Whatever the case is, the only real upgrade to the iPad Mini 3 is Touch ID, which, according to Apple puts the price all the way up to $399.
For those who are thinking about upgrading to the iPad Mini 3 from the iPad Mini 2, think again. The extra money really isn’t worth the new features. For those who simply want an iPad Mini, consider saving your money and going with last years model.
