Actress Amanda Bynes may be placed under one-year psychiatric hold

The troubled actress' doctors are looking to get a "LPS hold" on her in California.

Amanda Bynes may be headed for an extremely restrictive new conservatorship. TMZ reports the child star’s doctors are planning to attempt to get a LPS hold, which would allow them to confine and medicate her against her will for up to 1 year.

Bynes was hospitalized in Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, California, on Friday after flying from New York to Los Angeles and being tricked into thinking she was headed to an attorney’s office. The hospitalization occurred after Bynes’ mental health and behavior had begun to deteriorate over the past few weeks. She had had a similar series of episodes back in 2013, which had resulted in her being hospitalized and then placed under her mother’s care and conservatorship. Bynes was originally admitted on a 72-hour-hold that was extended to two weeks.

TMZ reports the likelihood of Bynes’ parents regaining conservatorship was small due to the toxic relationship between the family. Last week Bynes had alleged on twitter that her father had sexually abused her. She removed the tweets but concluded with one that read, “My dad never did any of those things The microchip in my head made me say those things but he’s the one who ordered them to microchip me.” Bynes is apparently now furious at her parents for arranging the scheme that led to her being involuntarily committed, which could make any their attempts to help her more difficult.

No word on if there are other family members who would be a candidate for conservatorship.
