The Aussie rapper dominates the nominations list for the late November awards show.
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has been nominated for six American Music Awards, earning more nods than any other artist, according to Spin.
Azalea, 24, was nominated for Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for The New Classic and Single of the Year for “Fancy.”
The music of Katy Perry, John Legend and Pharrell Williams was highly honored as well, with each musician earning five nominations across different categories. Williams faces off against Azalea in multiple categories including Single of the Year and Artist of the Year.
The Artist of the Year category is especially busy this year, having been expanded from five total musicians in the running, to ten. Azalea and Williams are up against Beyoncé, Luke Bryan, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, John Legend. Lorde, One Direction and Katy Perry for Artist of the Year.
The awards ceremony, which airs live on Sunday Nov. 23, is hosted at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The American Music Awards isn’t the only reason that Azalea has made headlines as of late.
According to TMZ, the rapper fired back at fellow rapper Snoop Dogg, also known as Snoop Lion, after he posted an image of a plain-faced woman with corn rows labeled, “Iggy Azalea no make-up.”
Azalea responded on Twitter.
“Why would you post such a mean pic on insta when you send your body guards to ask me for pictures every time we are at shows?” wrote Azalea, who has since deleted the tweet. “I’m disappointed you’d be such an ass for no reason.”
Iggy Azalea’s six American Music Awards nominations outnumbers those of Snoop Dogg, who was nominated for zero.
