TMZ reports that Bynes was under the impression she was being taken to a hotel, but in reality she was being taken to the mental hospital.
Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital, according to multiple reports.
According to TMZ, the 28-year-old actress was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold for 72 hours. People reports that Bynes flew from New York to Los Angeles on Friday and was taken to a Pasadena hospital after arriving at the airport.
The hospital stay comes after Bynes made Twitter accusations against her father Friday morning. She accused her father of both verbal and physical abuse, but then recanted what she wrote online.
“My dad never did any of those things,” Bynes tweeted. “The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me.”
In response to her daughter’s Twitter meltdown, Lynn Bynes issued a statement to People, via a family lawyer. In it, she refutes her daughter’s accusations and addresses Amanda’s mental state
“I am heartbroken today for my husband of 47 years,” Lynn said. “Rick has been the best father and husband a family can ask for. He has never abused Amanda or our other children physically or sexually,” Lynn wrote.
“These accusations are absolutely horrible and could not be further from the truth!” she continued. “These allegations stem from Amanda’s mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband’s character could be slandered in such a way.”
TMZ reports that Bynes was under the impression she was being taken to a hotel, but in reality she was being taken to the mental hospital. Her parents are seeking another conservatorship, after feeling it was necessary to extend a previous one. After the actress received a DUI in September, her parents decided to reconsider.
According to Radar, Bynes was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia.
