Pfeiffer insisted reaction was not the plan in dealing with the Ebola crisis, as almost three thousand American troops will be deployed to West Africa to help control the disease.
Senior White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer on Meet the Press Sunday defended the government’s shortcomings on numerous recent crises. He says the government is being proactive in stopping Ebola.
“The only way to deal with this is to stop it at its source,” said Pfeiffer, insisting the Obama administration is taking a proactive stance to stop Ebola from breaking out in the U.S. by controlling it in Africa.
Pfeiffer dismissed the question of whether additional screenings at airports or any other extreme measures might be taken to control Ebola, insisting America needs to understand “how difficult it is to contract Ebola.”
“If we see where there are flaws in the system where things don’t work, we’ll address those,” he continued, “But we’re confident of the measures we have in place,” he said.
Pfeiffer, when asked to comment on the government’s failings over the last 18 months such as the failure of the healthcare.gov site to launch when scheduled, defended the administration by saying the government had reacted to the disasters appropriately after they had taken place.
“People should know that in every one of these situations you mentioned where a problem arises, we deal with it. We deal with it quickly, we deal with it forcefully to make sure it doesn’t happen,” insisted Pfeiffer.

“They’re going to make a huge difference over there,” Pfeiffer assured. “It’s going to take some time, it’s going to take a lot of work, but it’s the right step to take.”
