"Spook" an unreleased track from the band will debut as part of Paul Thomas Anderson's film 'Inherent Vice'.
Radiohead fans got good news this week as the band not only revealed that they had a new track debuting in an upcoming movie, but they also noted being in the studio recording all new material.
Guitarist Jonny Greenwood scored the track “Spook” for a Paul Thomas Anderson film entitled Inherent Vice. The song is not actually new. It was performed live back in May 2006 at a show in Copenhagen. Even though the song has been around eight years fans are still ecstatic. That is the power Radiohead have over their followers and the music industry in general.
It is no surprise though that Greenwood would have put something together for Anderson. He has scored his last two films; There Will Be Blood and The Master.
As for the rest of Radiohead, lead singer Thom Yorke has been very busy on social media tweeting and posting little hints about recording new material. Well not really hints since it is obvious. Yorke said he and the man behind many of their designs, Stanley Donwood, were going through 15 years of unused images and words for something. Of course this has to be a new project.
The new album that drummer Phil Selway talked to NME about recently. He said just this month that the band felt it was a good time to “start making music” again. He then said to BBC 6Music, “There’s always that sense that our best record is still to come… There’s still a lot creativity we can do together.”
This will be Radiohead’s first release since 2011’s The King of Limbs. Also, check out a fan recorded video of that “Spook” below.
