B.B. King falls ill, cancels remainder of US tour

B.B. King fell ill during a performance in Chicago and had to cancel his tour as a result.

Legendary blues guitarist B.B. King, 89, has fallen ill and subsequently cancelled the remainder of his US tour. The cancelled dates include Pittsburgh, Charleston, W.V., Fort Wayne, Ind., and a show at his own club in  New York City.

According to a report in USA Today, B.B. King fell ill during a performance on Friday at the House of Blues in Chicago. He was checked out by a doctor and found to be suffering from dehydration and exhaustion. The result of his diagnosis was to cancel any and all upcoming shows.

B.B. Kings has been performing for many years and at 89-years-old, it isn’t surprising that he is exhausted. Hopefully he will take this time off to rest and recoup so that he can continue to get out on the road and perform in the future.

As news of B.B’s health condition spread, other musicians took to social media platforms, such as Twitter, to share their thoughts and prayers for the music icon.

Guitarist Melvin Taylor tweeted: “For my friend, BB King. Take care of yourself & feel better – God Bless.” Hamish Anderson, who was opening for B.B. King along with his band, also tweeted support. “Very sad to hear the news of BB King’s sickness and subsequent cancellation of the tour. The band and I wish him a safe speedy recovery!”

It’s clear that many people are concerned for the health and well-being of B.B. King and are eager for him to recover fully and get back to doing what he does best.
