This debut promises to be a much "more laid-back affair" than the iPhone 6 launch.
Apple sources have told Re/code that the company will hold a special event on Thursday, October 16 to reveal the latest iPads and iMacs. The event comes just a month after the debut of the iPhone 6, though, according to the report, this debut promises to be a much “more laid-back affair.”
Not much is known about the new iPads, including what Apple will call them.
“When is the new iPad 6 (or iPad Air 2 – we don’t know what Apple will call it yet) coming out, and what do we know about its design, features, size and specifications?” writes David Price at Macworld. “What will be the differences between the next-gen iPad Air and the current iPad Air? Will Apple add Touch ID? Will the iPad Air be updated at all in 2014?”
Sources revealed to Bloomberg that the newly unveiled iPads will include an updated version of the 9.7-inch (24.6 centimeter) iPad and a smaller iPad mini as well.
And rumors are swirling about the soon-to-be-introduced iMacs too. 9to5Mac has reported that Apple is in the late-testing phases of an ultra high-resolution Retina Display for its latest desktop. The Apple news website claims that new computer will have a thin profile similar to that of its current design, but will be “packed with new internals such as faster processors and improved W-iFi antennas.”
Reportedly, the October 16 event will be held at the company’s Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino, California.
