The scandal was uncovered during the AG's investigation of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse prosecution.
According to a report from The Associated Press, a porn email scandal has forced two Pennsylvania officials to resign.
Christopher Abruzzo, secretary of the state Department of Environmental Protection, and Glenn Parno, a top DEP lawyer, resigned on Thursday after they were named by Attorney General Kathleen Kane as two of the eight ex-employees involved in the exchange of pornographic emails.
“While I have no recollection of the specific accounts described by the media, I accept full responsibility for any lack of judgment I may have exhibited in 2009,” Abruzzo wrote to Corbett in a resignation letter, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. “I do not condone that behavior and it is not a reflection of the person or professional that I am.”
The report also reveals that the named individuals worked under Governor Tom Corbett, who served as AG when the pornographic emails were exchanged.
CBS Local points out that the scandal was mentioned during Wednesday’s Gubernatorial debate on KYW Newsradio. “I can’t tell you how disappointed I was because we had strict rules against it, and I did not receive any of those emails,” Corbett said. “I wish they would have sent me one. I wish they would have because it would have stopped right then and there.”
The AP notes that the scandal was uncovered during the AG’s investigation of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse prosecution.
