In Hollywood, celebrities try to keep secrets, but they often fail miserably. Word got out that heartthrob Ryan Gosling was expecting a child with actress Eva Mendes. There’s always one exception, in this case it’s Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo who kept her new daughter Sienna, born via surrogate, a secret for two months, USA Today reports.

Ellen reportedly announced the birth of Sienna on Thursday, tweeting, “Sienna May Ivery welcome to the world. We love you more than words can say.” She later added.“Sienna was born via surrogate & I would like to thank my whole @ShondalandTV family for helping us enjoy these first few weeks privately.”

This isn’t the first major life event that Ellen has managed to hide from the media for several days. In 2007, for example, she married her husband Chris Ivery in a secret ceremony with a very special guest.

“It’s important to protect the privacy of the surrogate, but don’t forget, I am the same girl who had the mayor of New York City marry me and it didn’t get out for five days,” Pompeo told Australia’s TV Week. “I’m good at that!”

Pompeo is known for his role as Dr. Meredith Grey on the hit TV series Grey’s Anatomy.
