Robin Williams family, friends pay tribute to late actor in private memorial

Robin Williams friends and family paid their respects in a private memorial.

Robin Williams may have passed away over a month ago yet his friends and family never got to pay their respects in a way that they felt was right. That all changed over the weekend when the late actor’s life was celebrated by those closest to him, including his wife and children, at the Curran Theater in San Francisco.

According to MTV, there were hundreds of guests who attended the service. There probably would have been even more had many A-listers not been in Venice for George Clooney’s wedding.

The guest list was the who’s who of Hollywood. It included A-list actors such as George Lucas, Danny Devito, Josh Groban and Ben Stiller just to name a few of the many in attendance.

Music legend Stevie Wonder provided the music for the service, which played to accompany a tribute to Williams life, and Billy Crystal gave a speech, as did Williams pal Whoopi Goldberg. Having had such a long and successful career in Hollywood, Williams was loved by many of his fellow peers as well as fans the world over.

“Whoopi told an amazing anecdote about when Billy, Robin and she went to Washington D.C. to meet Ted Kennedy. It was something about Robin saying, ‘Okay, if Ted says he’ll drive, let’s regroup,’” a source told the New York Daily News.

It’s wonderful to see all of Williams closest friends come out to celebrate his life because he gave so much to the world during his lifetime. There is no doubt that he will be missed.
