Several people were killed while dozens more were injured due to bombings in Iraq this weekend.
According to News.com, a series of bombings were responsible for the deaths of six people in towns in Iraq. But an up to date article by CTV News says that as many as 10 people were killed in the bombings that have occurred over the weekend.
The News.com article states that a total of six people were killed in Iraq after a series of bombings over the past few days. The first set of bombings occurred in a town called Sabaa al-Bour. Mortar shells were responsible for the bombings and explosions. Mortars are artillery weapons which fire explosive shells. The shells are fired from short barrels. According to News.com, it was believed that four people were killed by the bombings and 14 others were injured. But CTV News has said that six people were killed and 17 others were injured in that attack. Both reports state that one of the casualties was a 12-year old boy.
Another attack, this time in a street in the district of Shaab, killed two people according to News.com, while injuring another four people. But CTV News reports that four people were killed while 11 people were injured. It should be noted that News.com was reporting this from Australia, where they are 14 hours ahead of American eastern time. The report was also made a few hours before the one from CTV news, which came shortly after 11 A.M. this morning American time.
The bombings are believed to have been sparked by an Islamic State militant group. These types of tactics are used against Shi’ite civilians because of their religious beliefs.
