Irish actor Colin Farrell has confirmed he will join the HBO series True Detective. In an interview with the Irish newspaper the Sunday World, he said “I’m so excited…I know it will be eight episodes and will take around four to five months to shoot.” The shoe is currently in its second season and will be shot in Los Angeles.

True Detective is a dark and mysterious crime drama about two detectives, Martin Hart and Rust Cohle, who are involved in a hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. Starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, it has received rave reviews from critics and viewers. The show earned an impressive 12 Emmy nominations. There have been months of rumors about plot details and who will star on the series. Now Farrell has confirmed he will join the show.

According to the Sunday World, the plot will involve “bloody murder of a corrupt city businessman found dead the night before a major transportation deal.” Fans can look forward to seeing Farrell in the gritty crime drama. The 38-year-old actor will start filming the second season in couple months. He is happy about the opportunity to work on cable television and said the rest of the cast is still being locked down. The new season will also probably have several directors, rather than just one. Farrell will be in TV and films, as he has three coming out this year, including Solace which stars Anthony Hopkins.
