With the blessing of her daughter Melissa Rivers, the franchise plans to go on after losing it's beloved star.
It was one of the big questions after Joan Rivers passed away, will Fashion Police continue without its main host and resident funny gal? Well the answer is yes. E! finally announced that the show will continue to move forward without the late comedian.
In a statement released by E! they explained the continuation of the show.
“’We decided, with Melissa Rivers’ blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue. Fashion Police will return in 2015 commencing with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, January 12. No further details will be announced at this time.”
Fashion Police correspondent Giuliana Rancic said before the official announcement, “They are looking at different scenarios,” adding, “A lot of that will be up to [Melissa] and how she’s feeling and how she decides what she wants to do, along with the execs here at E! There is no word now – they are seeing what Fashion Police looks like without Joan.”
On Friday, September 19, E! aired a special, Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan. Rancic, along with fellow hosts Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos, as well as Melissa Rivers paid one final homage to their late coworker, friend and leader.
On August 28 Rivers went in for what she thought was a routine visit at her throat doctor. She was then rushed to the hospital after she stopped breathing. It was at Mount Sinai Hospital that was put into a medically induced coma. Two days later she was put on life support. Later on September 4 she passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
