Obama sent Melissa Rivers a handwritten note after Joan’s death

E! said Friday that "Fashion Police" will return in 2015.

Joan Rivers, who passed away on September 4, made people laugh, even if they, like many others, had been the target of the legendary comedian’s jokes.

“She affected so many people, and people you would never expect to have humor,” Melissa said on the Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan, which aired on Friday and was hosted by Melissa.

“I received a letter from the White House, President Obama, someone who was often a target of her jokes, as was Mrs. Obama, but I received a hand-written note saying ‘Not only did she make us laugh, she made us think,'” Rivers revealed.

Although Fashion Police will no longer have its iconic host, E! said Friday that the show must go on. “We decided, with Melissa Rivers’ blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue. Fashion Police will return in 2015, commencing with Golden Globes coverage Jan. 12,” E! said, according to the New York Daily News.

Rivers died due to complications after a throat procedure in New York City.
