E! says ‘Fashion Police’ to continue without star Joan Rivers

E! paid tribute to the comedienne by running a 90-minute special that focused on Rivers' funniest moments during her Fashion Police tenure.

There was an empty chair on the set of E!’s Fashion Police Friday night, and a pillow with the letter “J” left a somber reminder that its star was gone but not forgotten from the hit show.

Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, gave a heartfelt tribute to her Mom during the opening.

“For the last four years this set has been home to the funniest, most outrageous voice in comedy,” USA Today reported. “This chair was a place where a woman spoke the truth about celebrities and fashion and did it in a way that was hilarious and absolutely 100 percent original.”

She added: “Tonight we want to say goodbye … the only way my mom would want us to: by remembering the incredible jokes, the unbelievable guests and all the moments on set and behind the scenes that made Fashion Police must-see television around the globe.”

E! paid tribute to the comedienne by running a 90-minute special that focused on Rivers’ funniest moments during her Fashion Police tenure. Co-hosts Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos joined Melissa as she shared some of her mom’s funniest moments on the show.

The special also included never-before-seen behind-the-scenes clips, revealing that Rivers was just as funny while the camera was off.

Rivers passed away at the age of 81, one week after suffering cardiac arrest during an endoscopy appointment in Manhattan. E! has confirmed that it will continue producing the show, which has aired since 2010.

They have yet to name Rivers’ replacement. Melissa is an executive producer of the show.
