The singer and actress thanked fans for their support in a statement on Wednesday.
Iconic singer and actress Liza Minnelli is on the mend from the back surgery she underwent earlier this week. The performer, 68, released a statement on Wednesday thanking her fans for their support.
According to CBS News, Minnelli said, “I am overwhelmed with the amount of love and caring that has been sent my way from all over the world.” She is reportedly resting comfortably in a California hospital.
Minnelli, the daughter of the legendary Judy Garland, is perhaps best known for her role as Sally Bowles in the film Cabaret. She is one of the very few performers to have accomplished the “EGOT,” having won a Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony.
The singer’s back injury has not been identified but has reportedly prevented her from performing all year. She was even unable to participate in the New York funeral of Joan Rivers earlier this month. However, Minnelli is expected to make a full recovery.
