CNN claims they have a source who reported the selfie, as well as the unauthorized biopsy, to investigators.
The selfie trend continues to reach new disturbing lows. On Tuesday CNN revealed alarming new details from their source close to the investigation into the death of comedian Joan Rivers, who passed away on September 4 at the age of 81. The source alleges that Rivers’ eventually fatal cardiac arrest was caused by her private doctor, who not only performed an unplanned biopsy on her vocal cords but also snapped a self-portrait of himself with his unconscious patient minutes before the medical emergency.
Rivers was at the private clinic Yorkville Endoscopy in New York City to undergo a throat scope to identify why her voice had become hoarse. The scope was performed by the clinic’s medical director, Dr. Lawrence Cohen. CNN had initially reported the fact that after the throat scoping, Rivers’ personal doctor had been granted on the spot permission to perform a throat biopsy, which caused the medical emergency. Yorkville Endoscopy denied the report last week, making a statement that no vocal cord biopsy had ever been performed within the clinic.
The clinic has also announced that Dr. Cohen is no longer the medical director. The NY Department of Health is investigating the site and the incident, but details are scarce due to federal privacy acts for patients.
However, CNN is sticking to their story that Rivers’ personal doctor’s decision to perform a biopsy, which she had not legally agreed to, occurred. The selfie is a new piece of information that Yorkville Endoscopy has not yet commented on.
