First Ariana Grande, now ‘Frozen’: Things Mayim Bialik has a problem with

In a blog post, she went on to name three main issues with the film.

Actress Mayim Bialik, best known for her work on the NBC series Blossom and more recently playing Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on the hit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, has had a lot on her mind lately and has taken to her blog to let her concerns be known.

Besides being a staunch anti-vaccine advocate, she also feels that pop starlet Ariana Grande has been showing too much skin on the billboards for her new album.

Now she’s letting everyone know that she is no fan of the Disney animated mega-hit Frozen.

“I know everybody loved ‘Frozen’ and that I am going to get so much hate for this. But I’m just keeping it real, yo,” wrote Bialik on blog at Kveller.com, a site labeling itself “A Jewish Twist on Parenting.”

She went on to name the three main issues she had with the film.

Besides not being a fan of musicals in general, she cited the plot as demeaning to women. “Sure, it’s sort of hidden, but the search for a man/love/Prince is still the reigning plot line in the movie, as it is with pretty much all movies for young people which are animated,” claimed the actress. “The sister’s desire to marry this guy she just met, and the other sister getting mad at her–we still have a plot about the identification of a woman being based on her desire and search to meet a man.”

“I’ve had just enough already with this finding a man business in most every kids’ movie. Disney classics were all about this and look where it’s gotten us! Naked billboards of singers and women still not paid equal pay for equal work,” chided Bialik, referring to her displeasure with Grande again.

From there, she claimed the movie bashes men, “What happens in ‘Frozen?’ The Prince/hero turns out to be a scheming villain. Because you know, men can’t be trusted? Meh”

She saved her biggest criticism for last, the matter of character design.

“My biggest problem with this movie was the way the female characters are drawn and animated,” complained the actress. “The male characters look like cartoon men. They have some exaggerated features, sure. But by and large, they look like they have the proportions of human beings. Not so with our lead ladies. They have ginormous eyes. Like really ridiculously big. Teeny-tiny ski slope noses…Barbie doll proportions of their bodies in general: tiny waists, ample busts, and huge heads. They look like dolls. They don’t look like the same species as the male characters even! What’s up with that?!”

One can only assume that Bialik won’t be taking a role in Frozen 2.
