Day one of revamped ‘View’ has Rosie being Rosie again

Barbara Walters has departed the show but she appeared at the start to pass the torch on to the new lineup.

The View is back, and this time, Rosie O’Donnell is running the show.

She made that abundantly clear in the first taping of the new season, which brings back O’Donnell along with Whoopi Goldberg and two new co-hosts, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. If you don’t recognize that latter name, she’s a political commentator who leans toward the conservative. She was communications chief for former president George W. Bush and has appeared as a contributor for Fox News.

This would put her in the immediate cross-hairs of the notoriously liberal O’Donnell, making her an appropriate sparring partner much in the same way Elizabeth Hasselback was during O’Donnell’s previous tenure on the show. But during her introduction, the acerbic comedienne cried out loud to the audience: “I really like her. I swear to god! It’s all real this year. Everything is true, I actually love her!”

Barbara Walters has departed the show but she appeared at the start to pass the torch on to the new lineup. She urged the women to “go out there and let them see why we have the best show in daytime TV.”

From there, O’Donnell took it upon herself to be the center of attention. She was barefoot throughout the taping, showing off her perfectly pedicured toes, and sitting in a lotus position. “I have sciatica, and I’m trying to stretch,” explained the comedienne as she kept all eyes on her, going into detail about her weight loss and surgical procedure to save her life after her body has started to “break down, like my heart did” referencing the heart attack she suffered in 2012.

The show proceeded in much the same fashion with Whoopi Goldberg taking over the moderating duties she has often handled on the show. But even that is something O’Donnell has her eye on, according to inside sources who have spoken in anonymity to UK gossip site DailyMail. Goldberg has told her co-star that’s her job and hers alone.

Time will tell but if O’Donnell’s past antics are any indication, there should be plenty of controversy for daytime audiences to follow.
