Police are still searching for two children in Maryland whose mother has said they are "alive and safe."
According to USA Today, two children in Maryland are still missing after not being seen or heard from in a week. But according to their mother, who was taken into custody and questioned about their whereabouts last Friday, the children are alive and safe. Authorities are currently in the process of trying to confirm that by finding the young kids.
Catherine Hoggle was taken into custody by police on Friday night. Originally, Hoggle and her children were all reported to be missing earlier in the week, but police found Hoggle on Friday after several days of searching. Hoggle was apparently wearing the same clothes she had been wearing when she was reported to be missing, but her hair had been cut shorter than the last team she had been seen. When police found Hoggle, she tried to evade the authorities in an attempt to escape.
The children, a three-year old girl named Sarah and a two-year old boy named Jacob, have not been seen since last Sunday, according to CBS. After confronting Hoggle, his common-law wife, about his children’s whereabouts, Troy Turner reported Sarah and Jacob missing last Monday. Last week, Turner, along with co-workers and neighbors, passed out thousands of flyers with the pictures of the mother and children on them. Turner reportedly was under the impression that Hoggle had taken the children to daycare on Monday until he spoke to Hoggle and she wouldn’t tell him the exact location of the kids.
The search for the children continued on Sunday, both by police and by Turner and the family of the children. The family also set up a GoFundMe Page to offer as a reward for information in the case. Authorities are asking citizens to contact them if anyone has any information that could be helpful in finding the children.
