iPhone 6 breaks AT&T pre-order records

AT&T has reported that the iPhone 6 has broken pre-order records, being the best selling phone available for pre-order to date.

According to AT&T, the iPhone 6 has broken mobile device pre-order records, following a report that Apple had broken records of its own with pre-orders of the new device.

“This is our biggest Phone, preorder launch day ever,” said Glenn Lurie, CEO of AT&T.

AT&T has long been a partner of Apple, carrying the iPhone since it was first launched back in 2007. Back then, AT&T was the exclusive carrier of the iPhone. This remained for three years until Verizon eventually began also selling the device.

During the night after the iPhone 6 went up for pre-order, T-Mobile, Sprint and even Apple all had their websites encounter issues at some point, but AT&T’s website remained relatively intact. AT&T has a lot of experience when it comes to iPhone pre-order sales.

The iPhone 6 is Apple’s biggest iPhone launch to date, including a number of great new features. One of those features is Apple Pay which in many ways is expected to revolutionize how we pay for items. While mobile payment systems are nothing new, Apple has the user base to be able to push the system into the mainstream.

Apple also launched its new Apple Watch which is expected to go on sale in early 2015. The Apple Watch also has NFC technology which is used for mobile payment, and while we do not yet know exactly how well the device will do, it is expected to be Apple’s next big device after the company launched the iPad in 2010.

The iPhone 6 will be available to consumers starting on September 19, but until then the device can be pre-ordered from any major carriers website as well as directly from the Apple website.
