The 'Roar' singer confesses to Harper's Bazaar that she has anger issues.
Katy Perry is known for her upbeat personality, but the “Roar” singer admits she can became a different person when she’s angry. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Perry explained what she’s like when she’s having an “off day.”
“I can snap a little bit, be a little bitchy to the couple of people around me,” said Perry. “Tamra, my assistant, is my closest punching bag. But she’s strong and understands that I have a lot of pressure on me sometimes.”
In addition to occasionally lashing out at her assistant, Perry confessed to resorting to an unhealthy vice when she’s angry.
“I’ll have a cigarette, which I know is absolutely horrible for me, after a few drinks when I’m having a week off,” she told the magazine. “I don’t do black tar heroin.”
Perry’s emotional troubles reached a peak after her divorce from Russell Brand in 2012 and her recent breakup with John Mayer. She started going to therapy this year and meditates five or six times a week in order to stay calm and collected.
“What I’ve learned is that if you don’t have the foundation of self-love first, you really have nowhere to pull love from to give it away. I had to learn about taking care of myself before I could take care of others. I want to mommy everyone. I want to take care of them. I want to save them, and I forget myself in the meantime. I learned that through therapy.”
Perry is currently traveling the world on her Prismatic tour, which is expected to gross at least $100 million.
