The 25-year old singer was found dead inside her Los Angeles home on Friday.
Simone Battle, X-Factor finalist and member of the band G.R.L. has died.
The 25-year old singer was found dead inside her Los Angeles home on Friday. According to TMZ.com, the cause of death was suicide. Law enforcement sources told TMZ.com that the rising star was found hanging on a rod in the closet of her bedroom early Friday morning.
Her record company, Reign Deer Entertainment, seemed shocked and surprised when they learned of her death.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L.,” wrote Robin Antin, in an official statement released by Battle’s record company, along with affiliates Kemosabe Records and RCA records. “Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”
Battle had a bright career ahead of her as an upcoming pop star. She was a finalist on the 2011 US version of the X-Factor, making it to the top 17. She joined the all girl band G.R.L. in 2012, managed by Antin, who formed the Pussycat Dolls.
G.R.L. was wildly received last spring when the group was given the opportunity to sing the chorus of Wild Wild Love by Pitbull, which ranked number two on Billboard’s U.S. Hot Rap Song chart.
Last April, in an interview with PEOPLE, Battle said that joining the group “felt like a natural step in her career.”
“We’d been pursuing careers in the industry on our own, but once we found each other, we realized we wanted to do it together. It felt so right. The chemistry was perfect,” Battle said.
