The 60,000-square-foot palatial estate presides over four acres and 465-feet of beachfront.

A Hillsboro Beach, Florida mansion made waves recently with a $139 million price tag that puts it at the very top of the list of most expensive publicly listed properties in the United States.

Located near Fort Lauderdale, in an area known as “Millionaire’s Mile,” the 60,000-square-foot palatial estate presides over four acres and 465-feet of beachfront. The realtor, William P.D. Pierce, a Coldwell Banker Previews International property specialist in Miami, is calling the mansion, Le Palais Royal.

The mansion’s opulent, Bordeaux-themed architecture, with 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms in total, was inspired by the Palace of Versailles in France. According to the Los Angeles Times, the residence centers on a massive $2-million staircase cased in steel-iron and gold leaf. Meanwhile, the second-floor presidential suite comes with a private outdoor terrace and plunge pool, and  three additional master suites have Jacuzzis with ocean views.

In addition to the mansion itself, the $139 million price tag will get buyers a 492-foot private dock that can accommodate up to a 185-foot mega yacht, and an underground garage with parking for over 30 cars. Some other highlights include: the First-ever IMAX Theater contracted for private use; a 1,300-gallon Living Color aquarium that will accommodate a high definition 3-D television in the family room; and a 4,500-square-foot infinity edge pool with a 12-foot cascading waterfall, double loop LED-lit waterslide, fire pit and swim-up bar.

The property listing makes no mention of what the electric bill might cost.
