"I got to park wherever I want" admits the star of the highly anticipated flick 'St. Vincent' on a day all his own at the Toronto Film Festival.
Bill Murray is one of the most beloved actors in the world, so it is no surprise that he was granted a whole day at the Toronto Film Festival.
In light of his latest movie St. Vincent, the festival decided to usher in a new holiday known as “Bill Murray Day.” It involved a marathon of Murray classics such as Stripes, Groundhog Day and of course Ghostbusters. That was then followed by a Q&A with the 63-year-old actor.
To celebrate fans not only showed up to enjoy but came dressed to impress. Many wore costumes based on their favorite Murray movies from over the years. Upon seeing a baby dressed as Stay Puft Marshmallow Man the man of the hour, well day, said, “That is one good-looking baby.”
That is not the only thing Murray had to say that day. After coming out singing to Prince’s “Raspberry Beret,” the actor’s quirky charm never let up. He talked about the weather, “People kept coming up and saying things like, ‘It’s real humid out there. And it’s going to get more humid.’ That’s what my day’s been like. It’s mostly been a weather report,” and joked about his day’s perks, “I get to park wherever I want.”
Most love Murray thanks to his movie career but a lot of love comes his way thanks to his offbeat personality that often leads to internet success. There was the time he popped in on a random party and took pictures, and the time when he crashed a wedding and made a speech.
Many believe he might be making an acceptance speech at the Oscars though thanks to his latest role in St. Vincent. He stars alongside Mike & Molly’s Melissa McCarthy as drunken gambler who befriends the young boy next door. It straddles the line between comedy and drama and is definitely one critics are going to eat up and love.
