However recently it has been established by the 2015 Guinness World Records committee, Jennifer Lawrence has earned the “highest paid movie heroine” for her starring role in the Hunger Games franchise.

The first two movies for J-Law, “The Hunger Games” and “Catching Fire,” together grossed over $1.52 billion at the international box office. The film “Catching Fire” was also proclaimed the highest grossing post-apocalyptic filming, topping out around $854 million worldwide. Lionsgate in recent news has also announced their addition of another female protagonist to the series, Katniss Everdeen in “Mockingjay Part One,” another illustration of woman impacting Hollywood in a positive way. In Hollywood roughly only one out of every ten protagonists are played by female actors.

This is an outstanding feat for a woman in Hollywood considering the history of female discrimination in films. Young woman now have a hero to look up too like so many young men and boys have had throughout film history. As a female protagonist Lawrence continues to raise the bar as a female actor and sets a standard for women in Hollywood.

In other 2015 Guinness World Records news, the HBO series “Game Of Thrones” is the most pirated program of the year, Disney’s “Frozen” was named “Highest box office film gross for an animation film with its extravagant popularity. This year’s new “Godzilla” movie has stretched the franchise to over 60 years, making it the longest continuously running film franchise.
