Garth Brooks back after hiatus

"You're damn straight we'll do cowboys songs on this album," he told Rolling Stone at the press conference.

Call your friends in low places because the Garth Brooks resurgence is real.

Brooks made the announcement during a longwinded press conference in Nashville, Rolling Stone reports. Along with a new album on the way, Brooks also disclosed his plans for an upcoming world tour.

Brooks has partnered with Sony Music’s RCA Records to distribute the new album and to help with radio promotion. The album has no title as of now, but RCA plans to release it close to Black Friday. One thing is for sure, though. Brooks’ familiar Western sound will be well represented.

“You’re damn straight we’ll do cowboys’ songs on this album,” he told Rolling Stone at the press conference.

The upcoming album will only be available at his website, Garthbrooks.com, but details of the digital deal remain vague, according to Rolling Stone.

In the past, Brooks has argued with iTunes over the release of individual songs, as opposed to releasing the entire album only.  Brooks’ website states that the entire album will be available in a digital bundle and will feature a new single called People Loving People.

The unnamed album is set to be produced by Mark Miller, who was previously Brooks’ engineer.

“Right now, most of the stuff we’ve been cutting have been outside songs, and you just make them yours,” Brooks said, “This (album) holds a song on it that might take the place of The Dance for me.”

For Garth Brooks fans, topping The Dance will take some big boots. Although the Country Music Hall of Famer has numerous hits under his big-buckled belt, the final track from his self-titled debut album is considered to be his signature tune. It was released in 1990 and was a worldwide hit single, receiving both Song of the Year and Video of the Year by the Academy of Country Music
