Don’t get too excited now, but the iconic movie “Forrest Gump” starring Tom Hanks is getting a re-release to celebrate its twentieth anniversary this year. Yes, it has been that long since everyone learned the words “Run Forrest, run!”
According to new reports, the movie will be released in an iMax version sometime in September and no doubt fans of it will be flocking theaters and hoping to introduce their children to one of this era’s most legendary characters, one Forrest Gump.
An Australian news site says that the running scene in the film was actually not as tiring as one would think , seeing as Tom Hanks did not run the entire thing. In his place was his brother, Jim Hanks, who had that special gait that was so like Tom’s and became somewhat of a symbol of the Forrest Gump character.
Of the way he and Tom run, Jim said to People Magazine, “That’s a stupid Hanks thing.”
Though Forrest’s run criss crosses the entire United States and lasts exactly three-years, two-months, 14-days and 16-hours, in the film it only spans seven minutes. That being said, it remains one of the most remembered scenes in the movie all these years later.
Whether or not “Forrest Gump brakes in the money drink its second release will really be determined by how many people actually want to pay the excessive amounts of money it costs for a ticket to see a movie they can rent at NetFlix for a few dollars.
