Singer CeeLo Green has been dropped from two concerts after making controversial remarks about rape.

Singer CeeLo Green has been dropped from two concerts after making controversial remarks about rape. They were in related to his court case involving sexual battery in 2012. The 40-year-old singer/songwriter apparently made these fiery comments on Twitter, and they quickly landed him in trouble. The tweets have been deleted, but the damage is done. He will not be performing at Gretna Heritage Festival in Louisiana or the Freedom Live Band in Washington D.C.

Green has stirred up controversy in the past. In 2011, he made angry comments that were perceived as homophobic. The singer later clarified his remarks that he has no hard feelings toward the gay community. He also changed the lyrics to John Lennon’s song Imagine, angering fans. His recent rape remarks prompted concert organizers to drop him. In addition, Green’s new show on TBS was also canceled. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will perform at the Greta festival in his place.

The singer has apologized for the comments, but the tweets landed him in hot water. Green temporarily deactivated his account after backlash from fans. The Freedom Live Band is sponsored by the U.S. Navy. A statement was released saying, “Unfortunately, one of the performers we signed for the JBAB Freedom Live show on 20 September recently posted comments on social media that we consider to completely inconsistent with Navy core values.” It continued, “Regardless of intent or context, the lack of sensitivity towards an issue that is one of the great challenges facing our Navy is unacceptable.”

It is another blow for Green and may hurt his career. The singer needs to rethink what he posts online as it could cost him dearly in the future. He may have to do more damage control to win back disheartened fans and convince concert organizers he is a worthy artist to headline.
