The addition will be the first human child for Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher.
A future American Idol? Season 4 winner and country music superstar Carrie Underwood, 31, announced on Monday that she and her husband, NHL player Mike Fisher, were expecting their first child.
Posting to both her Instagram and Twitter, Underwood uploaded a picture of herself cuddling her two dogs, one dressed in “I’m going to be a Big Brother” shirt and the other in a “I’m going to be a Big Sister” shirt. The photo was captioned, “In honor of ‘Labor’ Day….Ace and Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn’t be happier!”
Fisher, who wed Underwood in 2010, joined in the humorous social media posts, tweeting, “We haven’t picked names yet but it’s looking like Fly is gonna fly. #boyorgirl #flyfisher.” Fisher plays for the Nashville Predators.
Hints may have been coming for a while. In a People article last year, Underwood was quoted as saying Fisher “would be an incredible dad.”
In an article published in February, Life & Style claimed that Underwood and Fisher were planning on expanding their family this year.
Underwood’s rep confirmed the pregnancy news to US Weekly. No due date has been announced.
