The legendary comedian is slowly being brought out of the medically induced coma.
Joan Rivers, 81, was taken to a hospital in NY on Thursday after suffering complications during a procedure on her vocal cords. Doctors placed her in a medically induced coma and had her on life support over the weekend.
Now, the legendary comedian is slowly being brought out of the medically induced coma, the New York Daily News reports.
“The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday,” an insider told the Daily News. “There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair.”
As Rivers’ family processes the uncertainty of not knowing what Joan’s condition will be like by Tuesday, they are also reportedly considering legal action against the clinic that performed the comedian’s botched vocal-cord procedure.
“Shock and upset is turning to anger, and they are looking for someone to blame,” the insider told the Daily News.
Rivers is the host of Fashion Police on E! She also works with her daughter on the reality TV show Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?
