Report: Secret Service investigates threat to Obama

The official did not say what the person was doing that made them suspicious.

Update: According to The Courant, the car was located late Friday night in Hamden, Connecticut.

Police are searching for a suspicious person driving a vehicle with Connecticut license plates who may have threatened President Barack Obama, according to authorities.

A United States Service official told NBC News the agency is working with the police to investigate the report, in which the “potentially suspicious person and vehicle” were seen near President Obama Friday while he was in Westchester for a set of fundraising events.

The person is driving a 2014 blue Volkswagen Jetta with Connecticut license plates.

The official did not say what the person was doing that made them suspicious.

Connecticut State Police were also told to be on the lookout for this person at Obama’s fundraising event in Rhode Island. Obama was scheduled to be at Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island Friday evening, and then back to the White House, according to NBC News Connecticut.

President Obama landed in Air Force One at Westchester County Airport just before 2 p. m. on Friday. The presidential motorcade proceeded to Sound Shore for one fundraising event shortly after, and after that to Purchase for a DNC Labor Day barbecue. It is undetermined whether the person was seen at one or at both events.

The Connecticut police have released a number of police bulletins but so far there has been no news that the vehicle has been found.

Streets were closed as the president made his was through the area at these events. He left the area at 5:30 p. m. to go directly to Rhode Island.
