After the first complaint, which came from a 57-year-old woman, Holtzclaw was placed on leave.

Oklahoma City Police Officer Daniel Holtzclaw, 27, has been formally charged with raping or sexually abusing eight women, USA Today reports. All of the victims, according to several media reports, are black.

Holtzclaw, who was arrested last week, is being held on $5 million bond. The charges against the officer include rape, sexual battery, forcible oral sodomy and stalking.

According to the New York Daily News, Holtzclaw victimized the women between February and June of this year. He would reportedly threaten to arrest the individuals if they did not follow his commands.

The Daily News notes that the officer’s attorney had asked for a lower bond, but a judge denied the request because he said that Holtzclaw knew too much about his victims.

Holtzclaw’s lawyer told The Associated Press that his client denies the allegations.
