Cee-Lo Green given 360 hours of community service by a different kind of judge

The power of celebrity worked in Cee Lo Green’s favor after he was accused of date raping a former girlfriend. He essentially walked away from the accusations with a slap on the wrist after entering a plea deal.

The whole thing allegedly went down in 2012 when Cee Lo was dating a woman. One night the unnamed woman said her ex-lover slipped her some ecstasy resulting in her passing out and waking up the next morning naked in his bed.

At the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday the former Voice judge said, “I plead no contest where I maintain my innocence.”

Green admitted he did give the woman the drug but that he had “shared” it with her knowingly. TMZ reported witnesses said the woman left the club fine that night and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Holes in her side of the story, and the singer’s plea are what led to his very easygoing sentence.

When the allegations first surfaced Green was still an active judge on The Voice and with that being NBC’s rating’s king – his reps made sure to clear the air with a statement.

“What we can say is that these allegations are despicable, untrue, and deeply hurtful to Cee Lo, his children and his family. We are confident that when all the facts come out, it will be clear that if anyone was victimized here, it was Cee Lo. In the meantime, Cee Lo is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support he has received from his fans, his friends, and his colleagues.”

Now he is a free man with no jail time coming his way. All he has to do is serve 360 hours of community service at the MusiCares Foundation of the Recording Academy. On top of that he must attend 52 private alcohol counseling sessions.
