Report: ‘Full House’ could be revived for new series

The still-popular ABC sitcom may be returning thanks to original star John Stamos.

The US may be getting another Full House. TV Guide reports a reboot for the ABC sitcom might be on its way from Warner Bros. TV. The show was frequently a Top 25 hit during its initial run from 1987 to 1995 and continues to pull high ratings in repeats on Nick at Nite.

The charge to bring back the show is being led by original star John Stamos, or “Uncle Jesse,” who has an ownership stake, along with the show’s original producer Bob Boyett and original writer Jeff Franklin. Stamos has been vocal about his desire to reprise his iconic role, earlier this year appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with his original cast members Bob Saget and Dave Coulier and telling host Andy Cohen that a “twist on a sequel” was in the works. TV Guide reports Saget and Coulier are on board with the reboot, as well as fellow stars Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber.

The Huffington Post admits there has been no word if Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen, original portrayers of the beloved character of “Michelle,” were interested in participating. It is also unclear what the timeline will be for the reboot.
