"The media never fails to disappoint," Cyrus tweeted in response to the news.
Miley Cyrus left her foam finger at home this year, but she still managed to be the center of the attention at the 2014 MTV VMAs on Sunday, August 24.
The “Party in the USA” singer had Jesse Helt, a homeless youth, accept her MTV VMA for Video of the Year during the show.
“I have survived at shelters all over the city,” Helt said onstage. “I have been an extra in your movies. I have been an extra in your life. Though I have been invisible in your life, I have the same dreams as many [of you].”
While Cyrus received high praise on social media for her kindness, it was reported today by numerous media outlets, including Reuters, that Helt is wanted in Portland, Oregon.
According to E! News, Helt is wanted for violation of probation, originating from earlier charges including criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.
Shortly after news of Helt’s arrest warrant broke, Miley took to Twitter to express her dissatisfaction that the focus of her good deed was no longer on the issue of homelessness in the United States.
“The media never fails to disappoint,” Cyrus tweeted on Tuesday. “You’ve chosen to go after Jesse instead of covering the issue of youth homelessness.”
