Suge Knight shot at Hollywood nightclub

A law enforcement source told the LA Times that Night's wounds were not life-threatening.

Former Death Records CEO Suge Night was shot at a nightclub early Sunday morning, the Los Angeles Times reports.

A law enforcement source told the LA Times that Night’s wounds were not life-threatening.

The shooting occurred sometime after 1:30 a.m. at a West Hollywood nightclub called 1 Oak, located on Sunset Boulevard.  The club was hosting a pre-party for the MTV Video Music Awards.  The 1 Oak party was hosted by rapper Chris Brown.

Details surrounding the shooting remain unknown, but TMZ has obtained a video featuring a man resembling Night being wheeled out on a stretcher by first responders. TMZ also reports that Night underwent surgery sometime in the early morning.

Night is currently the CEO of Black Kapital Records, but is best known as the former CEO of Death Row Records, which dominated the rap charts in the 1990s with artists like Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dog. The label fell out of success after a string of events, including the death of Tupac Shakur. Shakur’s death ignited a violent feud between East Coast and West Coast rappers, pitting Night and Death Row Records against Sean “Diddy” Combs’ label, Bad Boy Records. Night underwent a string of legal troubles, arrests and served a lengthy prison sentence.

Brown tweeted his feelings about the event, writing, “It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bullsh–!!!”

Brown is an MTV Video Music award nominee. The VMAs air live tonight at  p.m.
