Tragedy strikes amidst the music, at a Wiz Khalifa concert. A date in Chula Vista, California this weekend has been cancelled after a death in the audience at another concert.

The Pittsburgh-native is currently performing with Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy as part of the “Under the Influence of Music” tour. They performed Friday night at the Shoreline Amphitheatre near San Jose. That’s where shots began backstage just after 11 p.m. Police rushed to the outdoor venue after receiving multiple calls. An unidentified 38-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital. He died Saturday morning.

After the news broke, Khalifa’s date at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre Saturday night was cancelled. Entertainment company Live Nation released a statement saying that the show was cancelled due to an active investigation of the shooting at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. In that statement, the company also said that the concert will not be rescheduled and ticket holders should return to the point of purchase for a refund.

Khalifa, born Cameron Thomaz, posted two tweets on Saturday afternoon, calling the killing a “senseless tragedy” and added: “Violence is never the answer. My prayers go out to the victim’s family.” He has another concert scheduled today in Irvine, California.

The person behind the crime is still on the loose. Police said they are looking for an African American man believed to be in his 20s. They are asking concertgoers for photos or videos that may provide clues. It is unclear how the suspect got into the venue, since fans attending the concert had to be screened by security.

Meanwhile, the identity of the victim, who was shot multiple times, has not been released.
