One man shot dead after a Wiz Khalifa concert in California.
It was reported by local news stations, one man was fatally shot last night, August 22, after six gun shots were fired backstage near production trucks following the Wiz Khalifa concert at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. Police report the shots were fired around 11:05 only moments after the concert officially ended. Wiz, the pop rap sensation is reported to not have any connections with the shooter, nor was his life in any danger during the incident.
Officers were already stationed on scene working security and were able to respond to the violent event fairly quickly. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds. The weapon has been described by police as a pistol with a large magazine, possibly an extended clip. The authorities continued to report this morning that the victim had died as a result of the shooting, and police have began to pursue an investigation to find the concert shooter. It is largely accepted that Wiz Khalifa, who was rapping onstage with a golden microphone encrusted with marijuana emblems, a bandanna and a tattooed face, was not involved with the shooting whatsoever.
With the violence that is sometimes associated with rap music this shooting comes at no surprise for some, while others it has contributed to the growing safety issues associated with California concerts. It seems every week another person is injured after attending a rap concert. Sports games are no different, and it is unfair to protest rap concerts specifically spawn violence, rather it is the passion that surrounds these arenas and possibly the alcohol served at them.
