An insider source revealed to People on Thursday that Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are no longer living together, claiming that Cannon has “been staying in hotels” for months. Cannon confirmed the unfortunate rumor himself hours later, but has not yet stated whether the separation will lead to an end to his six-year marriage with the legendary singer.

“There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months,” the America’s Got Talent host told Yahoo! on Thursday.

Since Cannon and Carey got married in Apr. 2008 after only six-weeks of dating, many had doubts about the whether or not the couple would stay together. They have since had two children together, 3-year-old twins Moroccan Monroe, and the family has seemed extremely happy up until now. The couple even renewed their vows last year with a fairy-tale-themed party at Disneyland, and Cannon stated that there is “no merit or truth” to the “ridiculous” rumors about problems in his marriage during his May interview with Parade. However, the A-list duo put the Bel Air mansion where they once resided together on the market for $13 million in July, and sources are now saying that divorce is a “done deal.” This would be Carey’s second divorce, as she split from music mogul Tommy Mottola in 1998 after five years of marriage.

The couple is making sure to keep their priorities straight during their separation with Cannon telling Yahoo! “my main focus is my kids,” and Carey’s rep stating that the pop diva is “focusing on her children and her upcoming tour.”
