‘Orange Is The New Black’ racks up awards at Creative Arts Emmys

Orange Is The New Black wins three Emmys at Creative Emmy Awards held on Saturday night.

You may not think that a comedy show about prison would earn any accolades but apparently that is not the case. The hit Netflix series Orange Is The New Black has attracted a lot of attention and won itself three Emmy awards at the Creative Arts Emmys.

The big winner of the night for the show was actress Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the comedy. Aduba won the award for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy series and was presented her award by none other than Hollywood icon Morgan Freeman.

“I don’t know how to say how incredibly impressed I am to be a part of this show day in, day out,” she said, according to Rolling Stone.

Orange Is The New Black won three Emmys in total at the show on Saturday night but there could be more where that came from. The show is up for a few more awards when the actual Emmys broadcast airs next week.

The other winners from Saturday’s ceremony included Orange Is The New Black casting director Jennifer Euston, who won the award for Outstanding Casting in a Comedy Series. The show also won the award for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.

It’s obvious that television is changing rapidly in the age of technology. Before, shows on large networks were the only ones winning awards and bringing in hoards of viewers, but now shows online or on Netflix are also in the winners circle.  It’s quite a change from the days of the past.

If you want to see more winners, the Emmy Awards will air on August 25 at 8 P.M. on
